I liked that the author dealt with this difficult and prevalent subject matter. The staging was good and made us feel we were a part of it, as “passers by.” A valiant effort!
What I didn't like
Although the backgrounds of these women were interesting (and in one case devastating), I didn’t find myself quite invested enough. From other reviews, I was definitely expecting be moved to tears. Perhaps it was the narration/exposition from the characters to the audience that brought me out of it each time. There wasn’t too much of a story line to begin with, but I think I would’ve liked it to have had more character interaction, and kind of let their stories unfold that way.
My overall impression
This was 4 very interesting, personal stories, interwoven and retold to shine a light on the ever-present (though not always seen) problem, and the dangers of being a homeless woman. We are also informed of 4 important, helpful survival tactics for these women on the streets of LA.
