What I liked

This writer/performer is a deep lake of truth and soulful beauty and some mad skills to back it all up. His focus and intensity was amazing. At the end of the show I had no idea an hour had passed. My face was wet with tears and my heart so much more open and full than when I had walked into the theatre. I loved how he used his props, his feathers and his portrayal of Crazy Horse’s two loves was exquisite. Each of his characters was clear and alive. This actor/writer was fearless and a joy to witness. I have never seen a human being get on and off a horse and gallop on the stage with such dignity and believability. I could feel the horses hoofs pounding into the ground and he achieved all this with nothing but his marvelous posture and the skillful use of his feet. I was transported into Crazy Horse’s world through every gesture. When he sang a grieving song for his child my heart opened up not just to Crazy Horse and his dream of thunder but also to my ancestors and all their losses that have been ungrieved. " THANK YOU! " is what I felt at the end of the performance. I saw how without proper grieving and fearless remembering life gets stuck in our craw. On a sociopolitical level this play is very applicable to what we are living now. Please do yourself the honor of going to see this kick ass transformational show!

What I didn't like

There was absolutely nothing that didn’t work. I would have liked more butts in the seats and I hope this show wins some award because it would be so well deserved!

My overall impression

This was the most brilliant piece of theatre I have seen in decades! It’s what I imagined theatre was in ancient times: a ritual that literally transforms the audience. I could write long enthusiastic paragraphs about Sam Wright’s masterful writing skills, his wide ranged acting abilities, the razor sharp intelligence exuding from his gazelle like body but I would be missing the mark. What makes this show a “must see”… no… more than a “must see”… a “must experience” a once in a life time “must experience” is that it is a pure transmission of a man’s soul through the open channel of this formidable artist who goes by the name of Sam Wright. I am a better person for having witnessed his performance.
