These parts fit Lisa and Esther like fine tailored suits. They are terrific together and have amazing, tangible chemistry. I love how they play the drama with total commitment, but can snap a touch of wit and comedy into the mix without skipping a beat. Lovely to see two strong women completely own it for a 55 minutes that just flies by.
What I didn't like
I think the last lighting cue was late on the night I watched so I was a little confused as to what I should have taken away, but interpretation is subjective anyway!
My overall impression
A wonderful showcase of two brilliant actors whose sharp writing keeps the audience deeply engaged without any flashy tactics. As sad as it is that I have to say this, it’s exceptionally refreshing to see such a nuanced script written for two women by a man. Both characters are so well-developed and feel so real. Intense but funny, and entirely engrossing.
