What I liked

The calmness established with the space projections covering the back of the stage and the surrounding darkness pulled me out of the ‘real’ world and into the inquisitive world of the Little Prince. And the accompanying music was expertly chosen to amplify the atmosphere.

What I didn't like

While the darkness is intrinsic to this adaptation of the story, there were times when it was too prominent. I enjoyed seeing scenes played out in silhouette against the projected background, but at times lost too much of the characters. And just when I wished for shadow puppetry to enhance the story, it appeared near the end. It seemed more effective from where I was sitting – toward the back of the house, and behind a pole – at getting the characters across. I wished more of the play had been presented that way.

My overall impression

What a sweet love letter to the world! The Little Prince moved like visual poetry through the adventures of a boy growing into the knowledge of his truest love.
