Honest performance, carved out beautifully with a distinct theatrical method to deliver a profound look at how men are raised in our country and what we expect of them. Ross presents himself as an ally, to educate, take responsibility and admit his own shortcomings in a personally revealing performance. Ross is a consciously aware man who gives attention to his own behavior towards women, society and other men. It’s a rare and beautiful example of art changing the world.
In our time of #metoo / #TimesUp, women still struggle to have their voices heard. And although this is a male voice with an opinion… Ross is simply trying to say “I’m listening”.
What I didn't like
I want to see at least one penis on screen. Maybe two.
My overall impression
A personal, thoughtful, honest and humorous examination of Ross’s own experience growing up, learning about women, sex, love, what it means to be a man and how we are shaped, either by nurture or nature, and ultimately responsible for our own life despite the multitude of influences we encounter along the way.
