What I liked
The costumes!! Entering the space already immersed in the show with the music, characters, and set decor. Robot Teammate is a smorgasbord of super talent and yet each core member is as well-served and prominent as the others. I was very pleased with their inclusion of the ensemble in a way that gave them all stand-out moments. The band’s interactivity is as intricate and animated as the the cast. The inside jokes are funny to everyone, not just themselves. The book and lyrics are a brilliant and simple design, that manages to be tight, funny, and memorable AF. The journey Pockets takes us through is an absolute joy!! They take the material very seriously, but don’t take themselves too seriously. The humor is obvious, at times wonderfully stupid, and never missed. Live band and no mics worked wonderfully (important for anyone doing Broadwater MainStage Musicals to take note).
What I didn't like
Since this was show 4 over the past 5 years, I’d say… I don’t know… and this is selfish, but… never hiatus again?
My overall impression
The Darlings of Fringe!! Robot Teammate consistently puts on a show that I’d watch every performance of.
