What I liked

The rich combination of mystery, emotion, and unexpected humor. The stellar acting all around. Kelley Pierre’s uncanny ability to make words she wrote sound like she just thought of them, and the way her expressive face walks us through every step of Thyma’s thought process. The periodic – and expertly choreographed – outbursts of physicality that keep the show from simply being about two characters talking to each other. The set design, which is appropriately bare-bones but perfect at drawing the audience’s eyes to the right places at the right times. In general, everything.

What I didn't like

I don’t know! This is the kind of show that rests on the knife edge of withholding enough backstory and character elements to keep the audience intrigued while still scattering enough breadcrumbs so that we don’t get lost entirely. There may have been times where I would have enjoyed slightly more explanation, but that also could have tipped the scales into the realm of spoon-feeding, which would go against the nature of this carefully crafted piece.

My overall impression

Just all-around fantastic, a complex and mysterious emotional journey channeled into crackling dialogue and nuanced performances.
