What I liked

The simplicity of the set and the story both affords and forces the actors to deal with each other – all they have are the lights [whose nature they are trying to discern], two doors that refuse to open for them [at first] and a black table with two black chairs. That leaves just the two performers and their energy with each other, which is what live theatre is really about.

What I didn't like

It’s impossible to know who these two women are to each other – whether they are lovers, friends, sisters or enemies – and we can’t really gather what happened to them, especially when they fall to blaming each other. Given that this is really a piece designed to let the actors shine it feels like some beats are rushed, some discoveries do not feel grounded and some of the action feels so intense so fast, we are tempted to worry about the actors – which pulls us out of the show a little bit. It is a very athletic piece of theatre formed out of a deep interest in philosophical questions it seems and that should be encouraged. We just wish we had more of a chance to access these characters and maybe understand a little bit about their world. [Even Beckett lets us do that]

My overall impression

Though it is clear a lot of thought and physical effort went into shaping this piece, it is a challenge to grasp what the piece is actually about, all the more so after a post bows mini-speech addressed to hoping that anyone in the audience going through the same thing will be able to take something from their experience watching the show.
