It’s an interesting idea. I like where Hanna is going with the theme and thesis on the disingenuous calls for “civility.” The actors embodied their roles well and had some funny lines, especially the “TED talk.” The attempt at satirical Sorkin-esque dialogue and repartee.
What I didn't like
I felt the crux of Tranquility’s “troubles” was weak and could have been developed more to include deeper aspects of calls for “civility” as a deflection to criticize clearly terrible people and policies. It’s not just about not-being-nice or being able to cuss each other out, it’s about having constructive conversations where valid criticisms are heard (especially as they relate to oppressive behaviors and policies). It’s about being honest about issues that hurt others, not about being able to insult someone’s weird cupcake erections. Clearly I have some THOUGHTS on this!
My overall impression
Interesting idea with fast talking satirical political dialogue, kinda falls apart at the crux of the piece.
