What I liked

I loved how realistic it was. How serious and at the same time, funny. It surprised me and made me hope so desperately for the characters. The actors did a great job. I cared. I was scared. I was sad. And I laughed. I love how entertaining and yet on point the play is. I loved how scary George was. How shallow and yet on point Willa was. How funny Mary was, right when we needed to laugh. How Bill exposed his soul to us.

What I didn't like

I disliked the smell of the gun fire. I also didn’t understand why the initial scene is lit with light blue and then the lighting never goes back to that.

My overall impression

Sins is funny. Laugh out loud until your sides hurt funny. It’s also a poignant examination of what it means to be a creative artist. The play takes a very serious look at the trials of working as an actor, a writer and a director. It’s powerful and heartbreaking and somehow at the same time manages to be a rollercoaster ride of fun.
