Kelvin. It’s a 1-person show and if you can’t connect with that person you’re in a whole lotta trouble. Fortunately, Kelvin has warmth and charisma to spare.
What I didn't like
It did end sort of abruptly for me, but I ultimately took that as a sign of me simply wanting more, which is, I think, the ultimate compliment.
My overall impression
I really liked this show! Kelvin is a warm and engaging storyteller, which makes the issues he touches on – including racism, homophobia, and body shaming – carry all the more impact. And he never pounds you over the head; rather, he just tells his story, simply and effectively, so you find yourself fully invested in the man and his journey. By the end I was deeply moved and wanted to hear more (always the sign of a good theatrical experience). I hope more people seek out this show!
