What I liked
There are elements of the play that you get to experience because you are literally in the middle of the action. It was like a hybrid of spoken word, installations art and attending an escape room. I know, sounds bizarre, but is delightfully bizarre. I like when a story flashes you back in time or dips you into a limbo sense of dreamworld. This piece experiments with that. Quick fire dialogue and danger whizz past and around you, creating a heightened sense of engagement to the story. I recommend this.
What I didn't like
I would utilize the lighting better in the very beginning. Lowering the lights, rather than the stark bright “daylight fluorescent” in full bright. I understand that the space is what it is, but perhaps only have half of the ceiling lights engaged? Perhaps have someone flickering the flights right before curtain time, creating a launch into the story?
My overall impression
Really impressed with this production. Went in not knowing, at all, what to expect and I was delighted! This was completely immersive theater. You FELT like you were interactive (and yet not called upon as an audience member) to push the story forward. Action was happening all around you.
