James Cox tells his story of overcoming an abusive childhood and facing his inner demons through narrative and acting with courage and vulnerability. The show effectively and economically uses every bit of the stage. And it flows from one scene to another effortlessly, so I felt I was along for the journey, not trying to keep up with it.
What I didn't like
The projections during a small part of the show seemed a bit out of place. They were only used for one sub-story. I would have liked to see projections in other parts of the show. But it also would have been fine with me to leave them out completely.
My overall impression
An incredible journey of how one man overcame horrible life situations and found redemption. Very moving. And very real. It’s definitely worth seeing; be prepared for some raw storytelling that doesn’t hold back.
