Sunbathe in Darkness

What I liked

I thought this show did a wonderful job capturing the confused, misguided, angsty spirit of this niche demographic from this small window of time.

What I didn't like

I would liked to have seen some of the fan fiction bits reworked. It really did feel like the story was being written on-the-fly, but for me these humorous creative choice felt a little too raw and adolescent.

My overall impression

Inspired by music and the aesthetic of the poseur Hot Topic goth and pop-punk scene from the mid-2000’s, Sunbathe In Darkness, is a nostalgic-driven play focusing on a very awkward friendship between two geeky teens while simultaneously featuring incredibly terrible (on purpose) fan fiction dramatized for the stage.
