What I liked

The sense of humor – ranging from pitch-perfect references to late 2000s goth culture to a running gag about a poseur named Bill – was specific and very funny. Sarah Richards delivers a lead performance as Casey that is filled with an anxious intelligence that is fascinating to watch. The use of doubling where the people in Casey’s fan fiction were also played by people in her life is a fantastic idea that is well-executed. The lighting design did an excellent job at making the fan-fiction sequences distinctive from the real-world sequences.

What I didn't like

I thought that the scenes where Alfie silently interacted with Casey were interesting, but it felt like that subplot needed an extra beat to give it a proper conclusion.

My overall impression

This was a hilarious show with great writing and excellent performances. Writers Adam Cash, Drew Petriello, and the entire cast use the excellent concept to deliver a fantastic evening of theater that is as funny as it is ultimately moving.
