What I liked

This is a heartwarming tale of learning how to stand up for yourself so you can truly be yourself, even if you need help to get there. Our world needs the promise of acceptance and kindness, and I’m so grateful to see a piece lovingly render this with a spectacular staging and peerless commitment from a massive (for Fringe) cast.

What I didn't like

I just wanted more. I think this deserves more resources than are usually available at Fringe, really all the bells and whistles. It’s difficult to be disappointed with just how much the performers were able to craft using all the tools they had on stage with them. In many ways, using your imagination to fill in so many different locations and moods presented to us in rapid succession fits in perfectly with the show. The characters do this themselves, aspiring to greatness and not allowing our limitations to stop us along the way. They are, of course, gifted, in this case by an excellent creative team and talented performers, so perhaps the future of this piece is as bright as the grand finale it presents.

My overall impression

Kevin has a serious problem, and through a series of mishaps, he discovers the problem is an epidemic. Hostility and hatred for intellectualism and self-expression is rampant throughout his whole school. If only there was a way to make a stand and make the world a safer place for all the lovely weirdos among us just to be themselves.
