The actress who played Angel is fantastic. Also, the actor who portrayed Adam was wonderful, but given a terrible role. The cat ensemble is cute and “Chainsaw Kitty” was a great song.
What I didn't like
It’s hard to be constructive when the show is hateful. Jokes like “nobody likes a bloody pussy” are tacky and misogynistic. Having a character come out as gay, and then sacrifice himself for the straight white male lead is problematic. In fact, almost all of the queer and female characters sacrifice themselves for the straight white male lead. It’s shocking that in 2019 this is something that isn’t looked over and avoided in order to tell more complete, whole, inspiring, inclusive stories. Especially at a Fringe Festival.
My overall impression
This play is written by someone who obviously hates queer people and women. Literally every queer or female character in this is portrayed a demon, witch, killer, and obsessed with the straight white male lead. And if they don’t hate those groups? They are incredibly oblivious and part of the problem.
