What I liked

The physicality of the show, the performances (of the leads in particular), and some solid punnery make for a really good time. The musical numbers and costumes are also pretty solid (Chainsaw Kitty deserves special mention), and the ensemble was put too good use throughout. Choosing to lean into the camp and silliness rather than try to play it straight was a good decision.

What I didn't like

1) There were a couple spots where it felt like the vocal talents of certain cast members were underutilized
2) A couple of the big plot twists didn’t have quite the impact they probably should have. The “downstairs neighbor” side plot felt underbuilt, and it might have helped to play up Rosemary’s influence (or at least spend a little more time showing Angel struggling with a foreign influence rather than just being mean)

My overall impression

Good, campy fun, Hell’s Kitty is a horror comedy musical anchored by strong cast performances all round. While the plot stumbles a little in places, it remains an entertaining experience that’s worth a look.
