Callie Ott is spectacular. The songs she wrote are both poignant and funny. The character work is fully committed and engaging. Her singing voice is awesome, moving easily between quiet church mouse and avenging angel. Her performance is finely crafted. The subject matter, which could overwhelm a less talented actor, is wielded with grace and humor. It’s an impressive feat to behold. Her journey towards self-love should be shared far and wide in the hope that others may join her on that path.
What I didn't like
About the play? Nothing really but this review process could be helped if the layout when I’m submitting/writing it was the same as it appears on the site. Note for festival organizers/web page designer.
My overall impression
A deeply affecting and delightfully funny piece of storytelling. Callie is a hurricane and she’s coming for your heart. This show should get an extended run and then a Netflix special.
