Absolutely brilliant. A story that could easily have been a tragedy, instead brought to life via music and comedy with the ultimate message: we cannot be held accountable for the actions of others, but we can find self-love and forgiveness from within.
Callie opened her heart to share her story, one which would easily have debilitated anyone who had gone through it. In fact, she reminds us, through the character of “Doctor” Oggie, that this type of story is entirely too common; it’s a story that needs to be told. And heard. Again and again.
As someone whose life resembles a dark comedy (my best friend likened my personality to the tone of “Dead to Me” on Netflix), it is truly awe inspiring to watch someone share something so heavy in their life both vulnerably and courageously while also keeping the audience laughing throughout. Callie proved that it’s possible to laugh through pain, but most importantly: it’s possible to overcome it. And maybe even sing about it.
