June 11, 2019What I liked
The way the writer & actors found the comedic moments in such a dramatic story was incredible! It is so true to real life you feel like you are a part of the family. The message behind the entire story is so powerful. It’s one that everyone can benefit from.
What I didn't like
The only thing I would change is that I would bring tissues next time I see the show! Keep this play just as it is! It’s beautiful crafted!
My overall impression
The show was such a brilliant presentation of current issues in our society involving race and sexuality. Knowing it was a “family drama” I didn’t expect to laugh so much! For a drama/tragedy, it is actually hilarious in all the right places! By the time it ended, I (and just about everyone else in the theater) was left silent and still. I had to let the impact of the message sink in before I felt like I could move out of the theater. Very powerful stuff! Really well crafted and brilliantly executed!! This is a story that needs to be told today and one that people everywhere need to see!
