What I liked

The pacing of this show was just right and the similarity to operetta really appealed to me. The craft level was top drawer and at no time did I feel the audience was on unsteady ground. We were in the hands of professionals.

What I didn't like

Only thing that took me out of the experience was that the levels were off so that the music over powered or muddied the vocals in places and especially with the patter songs the lyrics are king.

My overall impression

A fun romp of silly with the creative and musical sophistication to keep it from being frivolous. Like Gilbert and Sullivan where the craft of writing is the true star of the show, I found myself wanting to see the score and read the libretto to catch it all. Would love to hear this with live instruments. This was a fun world to hang around and the actors and stage direction executed the story beautifully!
