What I liked

The music. The libretto. The tone. The story. The singers/actors.

What I didn't like

The direction.

My overall impression

A fabulously funny one act old west operetta in the style of Gilbert & Sullivan. Joyous and silly with a biting lyrical wit, Gunfight merges the musical complexity of light opera (including singers with gorgeous voices) with the tone and narrative sensibility of Mel Brooks’ Blazing Saddles. The performers all have legit opera voices and the composer/librettist pulls off the extremely difficult trick of writing beautiful music which is also very humorous. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an hour’s whimsical respite from all the doom and gloom.
