The show is set in a Romanian family household in the outer suburbs of Western Sydney, Australia.
Carmelita is a recently divorced overbearing Romanian housewife, who meddles in her sons’ lives to avoid moving on with her own life. Her polar opposite and constantly bickering sons, Valentine and Giulio are both gay, in their twenties, and still living at home. Valentine is a deluded man-child waiting for someone to take care of him, and Giulio is a smart but socially inept wallflower with a borderline OCD problem. Neither of them are looking likely to move out any time soon.
Carmelita’s crazy little family is rounded out by her best friend Maria, a sex crazed self-proclaimed Spanish cougar. Maria is constantly pulling Carmelita into one of her dodgy get rich quick schemes or creating havoc with one of her torrid love affairs. Carmelita’s world is turned upside down when love-sick Greek Tony moves in next door and becomes infatuated with her. Despite her protests, and unknown to everyone, she is secretly attracted to him too.
