Everything. Jonathan Cho is incredible in this show, expertly playing Rooney and other figures from the Golden Age of the Silver Screen by adopting their mannerisms and not making them caricatures. He deals in intense themes with ease and humor, while creating a character that is both easily ridiculed and heartbreakingly empathetic.
What I didn't like
I would have loved to see the set, to see what the other actors and director think of it, to see the letters he gets during the shoot. I just wanted more, and that might not be a bad thing.
My overall impression
Smart, hilarious, thoughtful, and extremely well acted, Jonathan Cho delivers a powerful performance as Mickey Rooney as Cho grapples with racism and representation in Hollywood, then and now.
