What I liked

Dagmar’s warmth, charm and genuine persona engaged me immediately and I was riveted to journey with her and meet her mother, father and Grandmother and the American lovers. The set was all black with a couch and dramatic red fabric draping across the one set piece, she entered in black but the bottom of her skirt picked up the bold red on the set, creating a emotional experience so simply. I loved the personal perspective of a Jewish Immigrant enter America from a Communist Country at a young age, fighting to find her identity and artistic voice and freedom in America.

What I didn't like

Although the set was dynamic in its simplicity and Dagmar uses it well in telling her story, the lighting could have more impact on the story.

My overall impression

The show was a powerful emotional journey that made me laugh and cry. Her performance draws upon the memories of a Jewish family escaping Communist Czechoslovakia, an child immigrant trying to fit in and a young woman finding love and Artistic freedom in America. It was a fascinating and compelling experience!
