What I liked

Mitchell Bisschop (writer/actor) successfully combines his live performance with video elements that play as scene transitions in a show that is one of the most inventive I’ve ever seen. His characters were well acted and all served a purpose of moving the story forward inch by inch. His sheriff character that is obsessed with all things EXCEPT the murders he should be solving was my favorite. Combining funny with sad and scary is one of the most difficult things to do, especially in a live performance. This show NAILS all of the emotions without ruining its tone.

What I didn't like

Nothing. This show exceeded my expectations.

My overall impression

This show is FANTASTIC. Definitely one of my favorites of the 2019 Fringe Festival. “Dark comedy” is a term that’s thrown around a lot, and Pit of Goblins takes the phrase all the way to the very edge… and then pushes it into a pit. (yes of goblins). This show has genuine laughs and times that were so sad the audience didn’t know what to do, and it all worked perfectly. From the opening moments where the main character is dragging a body out into the woods to speak to his therapist, I knew I was in for a different type of show.
