I really enjoyed both her story and her performance. Her drag queen persona really commanded the stage, and was starkly different than Tanya and her other characters. But, along with her as a performer, I really enjoyed the story. Learning about Singapore, and its beauty standards was an eye-opener. Her commentary and perspective on “Crazy Rich Asians” was particularly compelling and vital.

My overall impression
Oh my! Tanya dominates the stage in her story about growing up in Singapore trying to find acceptance in her self. It’s not surprising to learn she is a professional voice-over actress, as all her voices (as well as characters) have tremendous depth and distinction. Her show also gives insight into a specific cultural struggle that doesn’t get enough voice in the mainstream. I watched it twice, because I simply couldn’t get enough after the first time!
