What I liked

This show takes an insider’s look at what it means to feel as if you don’t fit into the world around you. From hating your skin tone, hair texture, the color of your eyes, and the size of your boobs, Tanya takes us inside her true self by creating the character of Tanvi, an imaginary drag queen with whom she shares the most intimate thoughts about herself and her life. Kudos to director Jessica Lynn Johnson for encouraging another great solo performer into the spotlight where she really can shine! This girl is a star!

What I didn't like

I hope Tanya Thomas does get the “big gig” she hopes to after the powers-that-be in Hollywood get tuned into her star-making solo performance showing us the “Best of Both Worlds.”

My overall impression

Tanya Thomas is totally and astoundingly brilliant in her solo show about her multicultural upbringing and ongoing life, from the easiest to the most emotionally difficult of situations she describes as the “Freakshow” of her life. As she morphs between more characters than I could count, each one a complete and fascinating character study, Tanya allowed her self-assured persona to shine through, always secure in her stage presence and keeping the audience enchanted from start to finish in this 90 minute tour-de-force performance.
