What I liked

The direction was magnificent, with role-playing transitions entertainingly and effectively performed. Peter’s command of body, mind, focus and tonality are in the realm of true mastery. The simple and versatile set intermingled with dramatic and beautiful lighting set the mood.

What I didn't like

I can see this piece performed on a larger stage, however, I don’t know that it would be an improvement. The intimate setting lends itself to an intensity that would be missed.

My overall impression

Out of the Blue is a delve into the self-exploration of a man in the throes of change – the changes that affect every one of us that reaches a point of “aging”. Beautifully written and eloquently performed by writer/actor, Peter Massey, the show is deeply moving, at times humorous, and always soul baring. A must-see for anyone going through the rite of aging, or caring for a loved one that is.
