The ensemble cast of five was terrific, with chemistry for days. The direction was fast-paced, making great use of the small, black box theater. There were plenty of laughs, but the story has a deeper message for the Me Too times we are now more aware of. And there is a chilling tension that builds as the show goes on.
What I didn't like
I think the show wants to be and needs to a longer show in two-acts. But most Hollywood Fringers know this and are forgiving of shows that have to fit a one-hour time frame. I look forward to more detailed story in a future incarnation.
My overall impression
THEMASHER is a spell-binding new play by Grace Jasmine. This dark comedy has a bit of everything from the friendships and hardships of three low-income factory workers, to spousal abuse, revenge, playing God, and an insidious company with dark secrets around every corner.
