What I liked
Jannica is an amazing performer – charming, likable, sweet, funny, endearing, vulnerable and gorgeous. She somehow manages to simultaneously “put on a show” for us while making us so comfortable that at times you feel like you’re just hanging out in her living room having tea (or tequila) with her as her story unfolds so naturally – a story about a woman with alopecia, which let’s face it, most of us don’t really know much about. So you get an education on top of being entertained and moved to laugh and cry.
I loved this entire show – it’s by far one of the best solo shows I’ve seen – but some of my favorite moments might be when she takes on the characters of her hair, eyelashes, eyebrows – with simple props and hilarious characterizations we are whisked into a juicy and imaginative world. Her “just following orders” immune system character was also hilarious.
I shudder to toss around the word “brave” too often when referring to women who are beautiful in some “unconventional” way because I think it can sound condescending. This woman and this show are more than that. Jannica Olin is a fiercely kick-ass warrior goddess with explosive talent.
What I didn't like
I’d have to really struggle to come up with anything that could make this show better. Maybe if it led to Jannica Olin being a huge movie star?
My overall impression
A beautifully seamless and moving solo show by a delightful performer. LOVED it!
