One of my favorite moments was the “stand-up comedy” bit that Rachel did with WWII jokes. I also enjoyed how funny things that may have seemed random at first (Paul Rudd moment, lol) — Rachel brought them back and tied everything together. Rachel created a powerful experience for the audience. Her raw honestly and vulnerability on stage was admirable. And I loved how Rachel tied Anne’s story with feminist and queer history/theory. As a non-Jewish person, I loved learning about the meaning of Shiva. Also, thank you for the pre-show snacks! (I’m sorry, I forgot the Yiddish word.)
What I didn't like
The fact that Antisemitism still exists in 2019, and people still lose their lives because of it!!!
My overall impression
More of a shared experience than your traditional one-woman show, Shiva for Anne Frank will entertain you, move you, enrage you, and leave you wanting to know more about both Anne and Rachel.
