What I liked

This solo actor gives a sensational performance in a freshly-conceived period piece!

What I didn't like

Desperately needs a more compelling title, which would entice the larger audience the show deserves!

My overall impression

There’s no shortage of one-person shows, as usual, but NOBODY can top this one, in which San Diego pro SEAN YAEL-COX holds his audience SPELLBOUND for 70 minutes (not 75, per the program, or 80, per HFF promo). Combining the conundrum of Scheherazade with the maelstrom of WWII, SEAN gives one of the best solo performances I’ve ever seen, abetted, I’m sure, by the direction of Jason Heil (ironic name, considering the WWII milieu). Carol Wolf’s decades-old script is solid dramaturgy, and SEAN makes the most of it that any actor possibly could! Brilliant! Compelling! Doesn’t miss a trick!
