It’s 1981! The corpse of DISCO, the flames of PUNK, the plastic smell of NEW WAVE, and the balls of ROCK ‘N’ ROLL, all converge and merge on a seemingly peaceful street in WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA, along with the stories of a 12-YEAR-OLD BOY raised by a PILL-POPPING SINGLE MOTHER and the many GAY MEN in their life.

“Storytelling with a pulse!”

“Rock ‘n’ roll storytelling from a master raconteur!”

“John Gonzales takes you on a personal journey of nostalgia infused with a huge dose of charm.”

Are YOU ready for a SOUL seeking, HEART speaking, LAUGH steeping, EYE weeping, STREET screaming, PAVEMENT bleeding, LOVE seeding, SPIRIT leading, MIND freezing, BACKBONE squeezing, WHAT-The-Freaking, MOTHER-bleeping GOOD TIME of STORYTELLING MAGIC?

JOHN GONZALES presents the World Premiere of his one-man show, JOHNNY ’81.

Adapted from the book "Wigfield", this play tells the story of a writer named Russell Hokes who stumbles upon a 'town' of people who have is hope. Hope to be recognized as the town they claim to be before the government destroys them.

ORANGUTAN is a haunting and absurd one-woman show about the mother of a brutish (slightly orange) would-be dictator, and the tribalism that’s tearing our country apart.
