What I liked

The writing was good and the honesty was top notch. The performances really boldly strongly brought out the issues and burst what could have been a bubble of cliches into full 3-dimensional … 9-dimensional… emotional realities. Entertaining throughout, and real in a way that is both nostalgic (very 80s) and timelessly current. The guy was a wonderful choice for all kinds of male roles and he was the perfect amount of charming, jerk, innocent, loving, all the things.

What I didn't like

I hope this has a long life and continues to polish and perfect. All my notes are really fine detail things. I wish the dance break were more advanced; it’s lovely but it would be so fun to have a surprisingly perfect 80s dance scene. I wish the crack whore angle were gone into – the “bottom” wasn’t as bottom as I was thinking it would be. But I appreciate that the crack whore is an archetype, and it doesn’t have to be literal crack and whoring! (But it could be.)

My overall impression

Really great. Meaningful, surprisingly fresh and vibrant.
