What I liked

The actors all did a wonderful job portraying their separate and interconnected roles. The music chosen was great and often times wisely necessary to bring levity. There was a lot of fun in the staging and the direction was wonderful to witness.

What I didn't like

I personally have an absolutely wretched time whenever cutting is involved in anything, so it would’ve been nice to have a heads up to mentally prepare, but maybe the reality of that was also sort of the point. Either way, I closed my eyes and turned away anytime the razor came out. So maybe a more specific content warning might be good?

My overall impression

I can’t say whether I liked it or not – it was a very surreal experience for me. Frankly, this piece touched my soul in many uncomfortable ways. I think that may have been the point. I cried throughout the show and then let my guttural, fat, ugly sobs loose on the car ride home. I think this show is going to stick with me for awhile, for better or worse. So… thank you? At least I’ll have something to dig into at my therapy session tomorrow!
