What I liked
I loved the energy and heartfelt commitment of the actors. There was full ownership of it being their story. I adored the one male actor playing a multitude of different characters. The gym teacher was a riot. There are not many shows that cover the topic of eating disorders and mental health so I was proud to see something that portrays a very vulnerable experience that many can relate to. The experience was both uncomfortable and comforting seeing girls going through all the uncomfortable emotions I also experienced growing into womanhood.
What I didn't like
Since the cutting and rape scenes are portrayed very realistically, it could potentially be triggering for some audience members- I don’t remember if there was a trigger warning on the program but that may be something to think about if not.
My overall impression
I was swept away by three women playing the psyche of a girl growing into womanhood and facing body image issues, bulimia and trying to control the unpredictable world around them. The dark insecurities many young women face are told in a way that is both heartfelt, vulnerable but also quirky and fun. There is so much light in this show amongst the darkness. Wonderful writing and acting! A fantastic show!
