IMPORTANT NOTE: We cannot certify this reviewer attended a performances of this show because no ticket was purchased through this website or the producer has not verified they attended.
The performances are good, the writing is mostly clever & funny, and I’m a sucker for post-apocalyptic story-lines.
The scenes when they put together crappy costumes & attempt to perform the Importance of Being Earnest are particularly funny.
What I didn't like
Anything I didn’t like could be attributed to three things:
1. I’ve seen too many shows. I’m starting to feel dead inside and that’s nobody’s fault, but mine. However, it takes a lot for a show to stand out at this point. And this one was good, but I definitely wasn’t as blown away as everyone else (and I probably had my expectations too high from all the raves I’d heard).
2. The jokes seemed to be funnier to the people in their 20s, so obviously I’ve reached the point where I’m too old to get things. Or I “get it” (yeah, I know some of Bey’s choreography), I just don’t get why it’s hysterical.
3. The theatre was so cold I felt nauseous from trying to stay warm. And repeat, I’m old, as in perimenopausal, so I can’t imagine how cold other people must have been.
My overall impression
Funny, clever idea, fast-paced, but I think I might not be the demographic for this show.
