There is quite a bit of audience participation and those bits were the most interesting for me – watching the other participants do what he asked of them. His song lyrics are witty.
What I didn't like
I think I would’ve enjoyed (or at least given leeway to) everything much more if the music/playing had been better and more skillful. There were elements I just flat out did not get why he stuck them in there (like the recipe). The last bit went on way too long, and sadly, did not pay off – in any way.
My overall impression
Confusion was my overall impression. Yes, he makes fun of how unrehearsed and unpredictable his show is, but it was true to the point that it had me asking what I was watching and why, and how I could be expected to care more than the person on stage seemed not to. I appreciated that he was trying new things and recognized that his humor was wry/dry. This seemed more like a standup routine test where, unfortunately, much of the bits and humor landed flat for me. I was certainly confused by the title. I will agree – this is absurdist.
