What a wonderful performance! The story is an important retelling of a pivotal moment in Brazilian history, and it was told so well through the performance and the narration. Not only that, the ensemble was self contained with the talent, including wonderful music and top notch capoeira, stunts, dance, and acrobatics that further accentuated the story. Well done! ... full review

Palmares Play is an absolute masterpiece that left me feeling uplifted and inspired. The Bush Captain opened my heart with his cry, "...Palmares did not come!" The play is a remarkable blend of fast humor, slow-building emotional intensity, breathtaking movement, and a powerful rhythm that transcends the script... full review

Palmares was an exciting production exploring the history of slavery, freedom, and war in 17th century Brazil. The play incorporated capoeira along with acting and storytelling to tell the tale of King Ganga Zumba and his greatest general, Zumbi. The story was engaging, moving, and well-executed. The display of capoeira was weaved beautifully into the production and incorporated kicks, cartwheels, flips, and roll. The entire experience kept me engaged and invested in the story. Overall, an excellent play!... full review
