Julia as Cavale and Adam as Slim stand out both as individuals and through their complex chemistry. More questions were asked than answered but that was just right for this play and the audience’s experience. Although the dancers and the Lobster Man were mainly visual additions they provided important counterpoint and unvoiced commentary. I found myself thinking of Waiting for Godot and No Exit, but Cowboy Mouth stands on its own terms.
What I didn't like
Earlier performance time!
My overall impression
Wow! The authors have distilled so much of human emotion and expression into this brief work and the director and actors have taken it more than one step further. A tour de force of range, of physicality, of connection. The audience is drawn in to the exquisite and perplexing balance of stillness and noise, anger and love, everyday and fantastical.
