My overall impression
Seeing BEAN was such an inspiring experience! My husband and I saw the preview on June 13 and we can’t stop talking about it. Not only is Lema hilarious, but she’s also a great poet. She weaves hysterically funny moments seamlessly into moments of touching poignancy. The simple brilliance of BEAN’s story is that it is so easy to relate to; Lema eloquently shares those moments we’ve all had growing up—the ones that seem insignificant, but end up being the moments that shape us. Best of all, by the end you’ll rediscover that fearlessness and undauntedly hopeful spirit you had as a child. And you’ll be reminded that you’re never too old and it’s never too late to be brave enough to “show your joy.” Simply put, BEAN is absolutely inspiring. Don’t miss it!
