It begins with a song enumerating the Fire Marshal’s Warning ‒ undoubtedly soon to be viral on YouTube ‒ followed by director Dan Berkowitz’s own “Lesbian Vixens of the SS Who Stopped Living and Became Ax-Wielding Zombies,” a very original example of Deus ex machina.
KISS MY AX! is an evening not to be missed by any fringe lover, playgoer, or self-respecting casting director in town.
What I didn't like
What didn’t work? Not a thing. We laughed, and took the giggles with us.
My overall impression
A veritable romp through the minds of the six brilliantly diverse playwrights who include Peter Colley, Joe Godfrey, Jonathan Josephson, Brian Raine, and Rom Watson, Berkowitz guides a remarkably versatile cast ‒ Royana Black, Ewan Chung, AnnaLisa Erickson, JP Hubell, and Bret Shefter ‒ through a minefield of absurdist logic with sincere aplomb.
