The timeless tales of Scheherazade and the heroes of Arabian folklore will be re-imagined for the stage. More than 20 dancers will pull from a variety of Middle Eastern and contemporary folkloric dance styles to bring these mythical characters to life, set to an original score by Paul Dinletir.
Bellydance Evolution explores, celebrates and re-imagines Middle Eastern and Western dance for the 21st century.
The mission – to provide a cultural exchange through dance – unfolds in the works of the company and its Education and Residency programs.
Together, these initiatives celebrate the dynamic aesthetics of world fusion dance, culture and creativity.
In so doing, Bellydance Evolution shares the joy of dance with all communities.
About the Company
Created in August 2009 by World Renowned Choreographer Jillina Carlano, the company takes a revolutionary approach to the art of dance; presenting theatrical dance shows with a storyline, much like a ballet.
Bellydance Evolution has performed to sold out crowds in over twenty different countries spanning North & South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. The company was featured at the 2012 Mawazine festival in Morocco, performing for the Queen of Morocco.
Featuring top artists in the fields of Middle Eastern dance & music, Tahitian dance, free-style, contemporary, tribal-fusion and ballet; each bringing their own unique vision to the production.
With the success of their residency program, they have established ensemble company members in the USA, Europe, Asia and Latin America, which allows this large-scale production to perform all over the globe.
Bellydance Evolution takes you on a spectacular journey that will excite both mainstream audiences and dance enthusiasts.
Residency Program & Cultural Exchange
The Bellydance Evolution residency and festival program is designed to give dancers the opportunity to perform in the production.
For each Festival/Tour, Bellydance Evolution selects up to 17 dancers via an online casting to perform as the ensemble.
Prior to the performance they will participate in intensive training sessions, with the principal cast.
This is a great and unique opportunity for dancers to get extended training and experience that they can then share with their students to raise the level of art in their community.
