What I liked
The meta theatrical elements helped to support the sensitive narrative. This play is almost the textbook exemplar of showing rather than telling. And I cannot say enough nice things about the performances. All three of them so complex and nuanced. With real gems hidden throughout, though of course I shan’t spoil those here.
What I didn't like
My only complaint has deal with phones. Some of the dialog triggered Siri to leap into action because a patron hadn’t properly switched on airplane mode. And my phone, despite being in airplane mode, buzzed to remind of an upcoming obligation, which undermined my focus as I feared I’d run late.
I didn’t, the show ended with plenty of time for me to get to where I needed to be. Heed my lesson, and go all the way to off.
My overall impression
This piece was touching, sweet, and funny, sometimes all at once. Performed by truly gifted individuals.
