I liked the scope of the show, the specificity of Bill’s experiences, the subject matter, the shifts in tone from gravity to levity, and I like Bill Posely.
What I didn't like
I wished it was longer. I saw some of the workshop versions and wished this Fringe version had anecdotes from that.
My overall impression
This show is a tour de force! The Day I Became Black is a gripping rollercoaster ride of emotions. It’s funny, timely, honest, informed, and so wonderfully performed that viewers know exactly who Bill Posely is and has always been. I am beyond impressed by this amazing show. Kudos to him, his director, and the Hollywood Fringe for including it in his year’s festival.
