What I liked

Unbelievably strong and forceful acting, superb masks and costumes, and the text – THE TEXT! The overwhelming, inspiring, revelatory text overflowed with meaning and emotion. Also, the best use of artificial penises I’ve seen in a long time.

What I didn't like

In all honesty I would change very little. I was slightly confused at the moment where Hercules begins to go mad. We had already been told that this was Juno’s plan, yet the action that caused it escaped me. Juno was not on stage when Hercules began his rant against the Gods – or did I miss something? It’s a very small point that did nothing to dampen my enjoyment of the show.

My overall impression

Hercules Insane is the best play I’ve seen at the Fringe so far this year. Absolutely riveting and so unlike anything else. This is what people called culture two thousand years before radio, and we have yet to equal.
