What I liked

The performance manages to bring us to a timeless space, and since Seneca is doing some time warping tricks in the play, therefore choosing to perform it in a stylized and traditional way instead of falling into the trap of modernization proves itself to be the right decision. Actors are strong, and since i have seen the preview, I am sure the only way from this point it up.

What I didn't like

There is strong delivery, maybe too strong, and too delivery-like in the very first soliloquy, but also some touching moments of searching in words and in emotions happening already. Probably the words are going to get even more delicious. Search will be even more adventurous. That crushing “is the audience paying attention” anxiety all actors feel for the first performance will peel away, we will be able to see even more layers, subtle acting decisions. I am really happy to be able to see a classic, put on stage with much love and competence. Go and see it.

My overall impression

Scholars tell us that the play probably was never meant to be staged, but only to be read. But it is proven wrong here. There are some challenges, but the director handles them with much craft.
