What I liked
Emily is such a talented singer and performer. She owns the stage, and is completely mesmerizing. Accompanying her is a four piece band, who are all professional musicians, and create a strong and steady musical backdrop for her to tell her story, and wow the crowd. Three Clubs is the perfect setting for a show like this. As a working bar, the stage is in a small private room with a working bar, and a server who will bring drinks to your seat when you turn on a battery operated tea light. Everything about the setting adds to the ambiance, and personality of the show. It’s perfect!
What I didn't like
Honestly, I don’t think much could be improved. It’s a great show, well worth your time and the price of a ticket. I would go early and have a drink first!
My overall impression
Emily Goglia (go-lee-yah). It’s only a matter of time that everyone will know her name (and how to say it properly). Emily is the full package. The real deal. She is a STAR. She’s as good as anybody can be in show biz, and I have no doubt that her path will lead her to great things. Her one-woman cabaret style show is a must see for anyone who appreciates stunning vocals, lively music, and a hilariously relatable and spicy story of a relationship gone. Based on her real life experience of being in a long-term relationship with a man who left her and later came out as gay, Emily cleverly uses the five stages of grief (six in her case) to elaborate on her real life plight, seamlessly using her gift of song to explain how she was feeling through her confused and uninformed situation. It’s clear that Emily doesn’t hold back, both in her performance, and in the story she shares, finding a way years later, to turn what was a difficult and life-changing experience into something positive and entertaining for all. While most of us may not have lost a long-term relationship to a partner who decided to change sexual orientation, everyone can relate to the feelings we may go through when you lose what you thought was a loving and functional relationship. It’s rare to have the opportunity to see talent at this level in a setting like this. Don’t miss out on catching someone before they make the big time. I wouldn’t be surprised if she wins Best Musical / One-Person Show.
